REO RESQ™: MORE THAN JUST TAKING OUT THE TRASH

So what’s the big deal about starting a property preservation business? To most people, cleaning up a house and getting it ready for sale – not that big a deal, right?

Well, that depends. When you walk into a foreclosure property, quite frankly, you could be in for some major shocks to your system. I’ve made some grisly discoveries – family pets left behind without food or water that did not survive – and some just plain disgusting discoveries – mountains of trash that defy description. Imagine having to rent a tractor-trailer and fill it just to get rid of garbage in a house! Well, I’ve done just that – as a matter of fact, one house took two tractor-trailers!

So, when I say my brother Scott and I have plenty of hands-on experience in property field services, believe it. You won’t find “The Dummies’ Guide to Property Preservation” on sale anywhere, so, before REO RESQ™, you had to learn by just doing it (now we provide that long-missing and crucial training to all our Owner-Operator franchisees). And that’s just how Scott and I learned – from getting our hands dirty.

The fact is, between vandalism of abandoned properties and the anger of people who have lost their homes due to foreclosure, the inside of an REO property usually isn’t pretty and requires some very extensive work. And since you’re often working with unsafe or unstable infrastructures, you have to know what you’re doing and you have to be able to interact with local authorities and be conversant with all the applicable building codes.

Property preservation is more than just a guy with a truck and a toolbox. It requires the right skills and knowledge to get the job done right – and at the right price. That’s why Scott and I are proud to be able to make available our REO RESQ™ franchisees to REO sellers and agents.
